According to Yahoo News Denver Broncos loose Kenny McKinley he was found dead in his home in Centennial Colorado. It was found that McKinley committed suicide. This is the third time in four years that the Broncos have lost a player. It was said that McKinley was depressed over promised playing time not happening and injury. Only two players have been there long enough to see all the deaths cornerback Champ Bailey and linebacker D.J. Williams. Broncos coach reported that McKinley’s smile could light up the whole room when he was present. He was a good guy and had a promising future in football.
Is it really worth killing yourself? I don’t think it is life is just way too good. Especially in his situation making most likely millions playing professional football. In my eyes that is living the dream for many people it is a dream. I would almost give anything to be in his position but of course not the suicide part.
It must really be hard for Champ Bailey and D.J. Williams to have to watch things happen like this the early depart of teammates it being the third time it happen. I personally do not think I could handle that happening to me 3 times in my career but you know they have to move on with life. They can’t let it bother them or their careers.
Why would a person do such a thing? People loved this kid why would he kill himself even the coach said he had a smile that would light up the room that means a lot being so well liked having everything going for himself. You would be surprised how often this happens in the NFL some of them just can’t handle it. It’s just too much for them
Monty, I read this blog out loud to my husband because he loves sports. He wasn't aware McKinely committed suicide. We talked about the content of your blog as it was a good conversation piece. We both agreed with your thoughts about why someone would kill themselves after they had achieved so much. Everyone has down times and most do not committ suicide. The more I thought about it, I thought there HAD to be something else going on in his personal life, past or present...something else was going on.
ReplyDeleteAs I read this blog out loud it had great content, however, it didn't flow. You may want to reread it out loud to see where you can put commas and make two sentences where the run on sentences were placed.
wow! I had no idea what terrible luck the Broncos had with losing players by death! That's crazy! That's almost 1 player a year! I think its sad that he killed himself. I think that being a celebrity is probably pretty tough on your emotions sometimes. The pressure probably really drove him to that level of insanity that he couldn't take it anymore. I mean tons and tons of people look up to this guy and expect a lot out of him! Also, you don't have any privacy when you're famous. Somebody is always watching your every move! It must just have been to much for him! Although, I think its kind of a sissy thing to do to commet suicide. That's just called taking the easy way out! Quitters never win and winners never quit!
ReplyDeleteYou blog was my source for this information. The Broncos have been my team since the 1980's, but since I have been married to a man that detests football, I have gotten out of the habit of watching the games and keeping up with the players. I had no idea that the Broncos had such a run of suicide amongst their players. It makes you wonder if professional sports should require a pshc. evaluation, before being eligable to play. As for the Bronoc teammates Bailey and Williams, I have the deepest sympathy for their situation, to have to deal with this situation repeatedly has to have had some kind of pshycological, not to mention emotional repercusions.
